RELATIVELY SPEAKING

Your parent’s or grandparent’s lifetime memories will be captured onto digital media and treasured for the future.

No earlier generation has been able to have “live” memories of their family history.

Option 1 – Face to Face Interview

Research.  In conversation with you and / or your parents / grandparents their various points of interest and memories are established.   A preliminary list of the topics that are usually covered is provided.

The advantages of the interview being performed by a family member or ourselves will be discussed.

The subject and family are requested to look out some photographs, film or video that can be intercut with the interview.

At an agreed time we arrive at your chosen location with a camera, some lighting and sound equipment.  This is decided upon depending on the interviewee’s wishes.

Typically the interview lasts for about one hour when everyone can take a break and discuss how its going.  The interview can carry on for about another half an hour.

This material is then edited together to present you with a final version on a USB, DVD or personalised presentation kit.

This produces the best quality.

Option 2 – Virtual Interview via the Internet

As above but the interview is carried out over the internet using a VMix system.  The interviewer can be in one location (home) and the interviewee in another (their home).  This has been very successful during the Covid lock down and also with family members who are far away – even overseas.

Those involved use laptops with cameras, ipads, iphones or ideally webcams that connect directly to the studio where the interview is ultimately recorded.  All parties can talk to each other.

Again we need the photos, videos etc for the editing process.

The results of this have been very successful but are dependent on the quality of the cameras used as well as the internet connection.  A preliminary test is advised.  The current models of iPhones and iPads give the best results.

It is essential that all parties wear in-ear headphone.  The iPhone ones are ideal.  This is to avoid echo caused by the speakers on the units.

Advice will be given on the best camera position, lighting and sound.

Again, the interview lasts for about one hour when everyone can take a break and discuss how its going.  The interview can carry on for about another half an hour.

This material is then edited together to present you with a final version on a USB, DVD or personalised presentation kit.

The basic package cost is £750.

However every client has special requirements and this is a bespoke operation.  It is not unusual, following the success of the first session, to be asked to record more material  as the process has inspired more memories.  You will be advised of any additional costs in advance.

What is most important is that you and your family are pleased with the result.
